Latin GRAMMY®: The rules every voter must know

The Latin Recording Academy reminds members of the rules governing the voting process during the July-to-October season. Knowing them is every member's responsibility.

Each year, during the voting season from July to October, the Latin Recording Academy® reminds its members of the rules that protect the integrity of the process.

Most importantly: member contact information is confidential and is never disclosed. Press releases and 'for your consideration' announcements are permitted, but category names, numbers and ballot data are the Academy's exclusive property and may not be published or distributed under any circumstances.

During the voting season, soliciting votes or distributing product at Academy-sponsored events is strictly prohibited. Elected officers may not promote any entered material before, during or after official meetings.

As for the vote itself: each member must vote with full independence, free from the influence of personal friendships, company loyalties, regional preferences or commercial success. Accepting money or anything of value in exchange for a vote is forbidden, as is coordinating with other members on how to vote.

Finally, every voter has a responsibility to report to the Academy any activity that could compromise the process. Violations may result in the disqualification of entries and even termination of membership.
